This eco-conscious abode can be found nestled in the rugged slopes of the now extinct volcano, Palo Huérfano, located about 250 km north of Mexico City. While the nearest town, San Miguel de Allende, is located 8 km away.
This semi-remote beauty features an impressive architectural design labeled as “a livable art project on an extinct volcano”.
The external mirror design blurs the boundaries between nature and man-made by reflecting the landscape on the panels, allowing the structure to blend in with its surroundings. This 75 sq. meter dwelling is built with sustainability in mind; the house runs on solar energy, collected rainwater, and uses a patterned ultraviolet coating on the mirror panels so that it’s visible to birds.
The interior is built without partition walls creating an open living plan. The living room and bedroom area feature floor to ceiling sliding glass doors that provide an unobstructed view of the surrounding cliffs.
If you’re looking for a getaway that allows you to feel truly immersed in nature, this two-person guest house is available for rent.
