Guess how much this newly released air purifier (yes, it's an air purifier, not a speaker or other piece of cool tech) from Ikea is. $55! This just might be a bargain of the year, if you're in the market for an air purifier.
Air purifiers are growing in popularity for obvious reasons given our current Covid situation, but the market for them was already increasing for a long time before that, as we become more health conscious and aware of the potential health hazards in our environments. High quality, reputable brand air purifiers can range from anywhere from $150 - $800 or more, depending on the features and size of area the purifier is capable of handling. However, a lot of air purifiers don't prioritise design - many look like large, obtrusive white or black boxes.
That's where this new purifier from Ikea ticks so many boxes. Design wise, it is undoubtedly the best looking air purifier we've seen. If someone had told us this was a speaker, we'd have believed them. In fact, that's because it's designed to resemble Ikea's range of speakers. Thus, it blends much better into your living space.
In terms of performance, this is a very capable machine. It features a HEPA filter (or a carbon filter for $10 for extra filtration), has 3 speed or power settings, and on the most powerful can filter 130m3 per hour. It's lowest setting is quiet enough for sleep, making it a great bedroom machine. It can be free-standing on the floor or be mounted to a wall (see below) to make it even more inconspicuous.
